Hello,
Can you help me with some information about license built vospers that where transfered to the Soviet Union fleet? I am building a model now and I need to clarify some moments about it.
1. I don't have complete understanding about transom view of typical soviet vosper. All photos I was able to find showing this part are too pour in size and quality.
2. There where shields on .50 cal twin mounts. Does anyone got their photos? I mean photos depicting how they where fitted to gun mount. I don't have any idea of this place.
3. Between gun mounts there was a mast. How was it fitted to boat?
4. Bridge. What was there? I think that instrumental panel was rather different from one of British vospers. And I also was not able to find any information about this place. Most photos were taken looking aft.
Thank you for your help.

Send an email to ptboats@ptboats.org and ask them. Ask Chip Marshall, who's sometimes here and Google the Herreshoff Museum and contact them.

Igor,

Answers will depend on which boat you're building. The Soviet Navy acquired license-built Vospers from a number of yards and there were some major differences. Tell us a bit more about your project.

On a somewhat related subject, are you familiar with Soviet Navy camouflage? I'm trying to determine the colors of this scheme of a Higgins in the Northern Fleet:

I can't help you with this one higgins, but after comparing photos for vospers in Soviet fleet and them while manufacture trials in US, I decided that no changes in painting were done in SU fleet during war time.
Look at this one for example:

About exact boat. I didn't decide it for now. It would be one of Annapolis or Herreshoff boats.

My project. Just a little bit of history I have a son, and once I noticed that he is interested in rc model boats. So I decided to build our own one. I got some experience in modeling, but it is mainly connected with military scale models - tanks, infantry and so on. So I began to search for appropriate project. I have got some Russian magazines with drawing. After looking through all of them I chose Vosper. It seemed quiet easy for me and I started it.
Soon I understood that drawings are very very bad. Here they are. Nice hull lines, don't you think so?

The above image link isn't loading because the the link gets redirected to another address - so please click on the following link it will open up to view the drawing: http://postimage.org/image/te47xynbv/ . . . Thanks, Dick

This one is from cardboard in 1/48 scale but still not ideal. It is supposed to be some kind of training before real project at 1/24 scale.

Now I am drawing my third version of hull.
So as you can see I don't really have a clear idea of what exact boat I am building. It would depend on how match information I can get about prototypes. Probably it would be PT405 (TK234) or PT400 (TK220)

It appears you want to build one of the modified Vospers (twin .50 turrets, angular torpedo scallop). I have the original Annapolis Yacht Yard drawings for PT 723 that include lines and sections, outboard and inboard plan, outboard and inboard profile, and a sectional view.

John Lambert redrew them for our ALLIED COASTAL FORCES OF WORLD WAR II, Vol. 2 and ALLIED TORPEDO BOATS. Here are the drawings from the latter.

I can scan the lines and sections from the originals for you if that would be useful.

Interesting subject. Looking at these photos I was thinking this would be an interesting conversion of the Italeri Vosper kit. Although the turrets and cockpit would require some major surgery. Still a very interesting subject! Too many projects for me to take this one on though.

Very nice scratch building Igor. Please continue to share your work with us.

Moreover, as I could understand from drawings, charthouse was moved forward, comparing British one.
