Hello ...

Are there any former PT men here who were in RON 13, RON 16 and 16B or PT DIV 1?

Garth,
Sadly, my dad ( Richard W Stanton) passed almost two years ago. He was a GM1st with Ron 16, PT 224 for his whole service career. He did talk some about the Aleutians, especially the waves. : )

Bob, sorry to hear that your Dad made his final patrol. That type of duty was no picnic, where PT BOATS probably should not have been in this type of element.

Thanks

He was stationed at Attu from fall/43 to spring of 44 then off to the South Pacific. And I of course have gotten much more interested in his service career after his passing.....

Very tough duty in that area with many patrols cancelled due to weather conditions. Before they had installed those motor driven heaters on the boats, the first boats to arrive had a tough time. The boats in this area did escort duty, and some anti sub patrol. I think they finally pulled the Squadron out of the area sometime in 1944, and were sent to Seattle for overhaul and placement to the Southwest Pacific area.

Garth - my uncle was in the Alutians - PT 300. Jerry Gilmartin also has a great deal of information on the movement of the Rons in Alaska.
