Hope this works...

Ted Walther suggested I post this for you all to see, since there have been a lot of They Were Expendable' questions lately....

This is Robert Montgomery with a group of Ron Five officers underway for Panama, August 1942. The other officers (all ensigns) are from left, Ray Burnham, Sid Hix, Joe Roberts, John Chester, and Bryant Larson. The picture was taken aboard the SS Joseph Stanton.

Got ya Gene, working on it right now ! ! ! !

FIXED

I had to go into your FTP site and find out the correct name and directory. I found you had some extra words in the link:

you wrote: http:// www.pt-king.gdinc.com/ PTsquadronfive3 /images/ron5(8).jpg

Should have been: http:// www.pt-king.gdinc.com / images/ron5(8).jpg
You had PTsquadronfive3 as an extra directory which didn't exist.

Note I had added extra spaces so the link wouldn't load..

ROBERT MONTGOMERY HAS THE SAME STANCE AND ATTITUDE THAT SEEMS SO FAMILIAR TO US FROM THE MOVIE "THEY WERE EXPENDABLE" BUT OF COURSE, THE REAL WAR CAME FIRST.
NICE SHOT, THANKS FOR POSTING IT.

Nice Photo thanks for posting,
A while back someone wondered about the gear worn in the Movie TWE and well I'm sure I've seen those shorts before.

Gene;
Thanks for taking my suggestion, looking at the photo, I still can't believe, it. It looks like Montgomery just pulled this "uniform" out of his sea bag and used it for the movie, the only item missing here is the bandana he used later in the movie.
Take care,
TED

Gene

Thanks for posting this photo, I have become some what of a nut with Montgomery and have collected many of the movie photos, and anything associated with "They Were Expendable". Ted is right, he looks ready to jump from this ship right onto PT-41.
