Where did the exhust go on PT-196 after it was fitted with the auxilary fuel tank at the stern? Please do not tell me to look at an image in a book as I don't have any on PT boats and can't afford one now and the local library has virtually zilch on PT boats.

Cheers

That was one of the reasons why that experiment was ended. It was found that "trailer" was too close to the exhausts and caused the engines to overheat.

Unfortunately ... the man who could talk to you about that "trailer" died last summer. Alex Johnson.

Mr. Connely.

Are you saying that the exhausts were in the same position on the stern and were between the stern and theforward face of te auxilary fuel tank?

Thanks and cheers.

That's my understanding, Peter. Maybe people like Wayne Traxel could answer you better.

May I ask a stupid question?

That "trailer"? Was that for carrying cargo and supplies to a forward base type of thing or was it for fuel? I was never clear on that point and have never gotten a direct answer to.
