Hello,
May I ask you guys a question?
If some of the Regia Marina's MAS boats were painted in a similar scheme, why would the USN even think about painting any PT in the Adaptor Scheme. A fighter pilot would see it and maybe mistake it for a MAS boat. Right?

Hi Garth,
That is a good question! I have no idea why, maybe they were unaware or maybe trying to add confusion to the mix? Still a good question. Jerry

Wouldn't you think it'd be dangerous?
Think about it, a Higgins did have a slight passing resemblance to a MAS boat, about the same size, similar deck layout ...
A P-51, 47, 38, Spitfire, Hurricane pilot flying along at 300 mph and sees a black and white striped boat? I wouldn't want to be on that boat. I mean - look at what happened to the 166.

I dont believe that the deck was done in zebra and the yellow triangle on the bow was visible from the air.

Bob,
Were you in RON 22? And, if so, which boat? |

No Garth, I am one of the volunteers on the restoration of PT 305. I was on the USS Parsons DDG 33 in the late 70's.
