Without a doubt, RON15 was the least uniform PTRON with regards paint schemes. Photos of them nested show an extremely broad range of patterns and colors. All of the RON commissioning photos I've seen show all boats painted the same, yet the RON15 boats were shipped in a variety of schemes. Why? I haven't seen anything in the RON15 war diaries that even alludes to this. As usual, I'm not interested in conjecture or "I was told" responses, as they seldom have any value beyond making things murkier.

Mr. Ross,
Look in CAPT. Barnes' memoirs, I seem to recall reading a passage in there describing the passage across the Atlantic in which he alludes to them painting the boats, or some of them at least, enroute on the ENOREE.
