I found it interesting to see the rather low tech way the torpedo tube training cranks were secured to their chocks. I've never seen an image showing the cranks close up, I'd appreciate seeing it if you have one. The ties would be an nice detail for modelers to add:

Well done Jeff. I've seen photos but none that I can remember showing that detail. Not only the ties but the "L" shaped bracket with the whole in it makes for a nice detail. It doesn't get any lower tech that those ties. Thanks for sharing!

Nice job Jeff. I have been scouring some of my photos to try and capture this crank, but nothing close enough to grab any real detail. I will keep looking to see what I have. I am most interested in finding a real photo that might show these simple ties.

Frank,

Victor Chuns American PT Boats in WW11 Volume Two Page 41 top lefthand photo showing crewman working on aft gun turret clearly showes the cranks supports and tie downs you are looking for.

How are the cats any further action against the PT Boat fleet?

You should look out for that Russian Blue they are great hunters!

Oops missed a bit ,it appears that Jeffs L bracket might be a timber support on this boat what do you think?

Thanks David, it's good to know that images back the rope ties up.

I have Victor's first book but not his second. I'm guessing that at some point they changed the forward mount from a wood block to the steel angle. The Elco drawing is revision 6 but the revision list didn't come out well and is hard to read.

David, thank for pointing that out. I need to look at my own photo's much better than I do. This photo in Victor's Book is mine, how dumb I am right? Nope the Cats are now off limits to any boats in my Fleet, as I would next time boil them in oil, just kidding of course.
