Hey guys, I was very happy to have this radio system donated to my Exhibit this afternoon. Hoping you might help me, as I am looking for the antenna/loading knob which is missing from the top unit. Also need to clean it up, but could use some suggestions on what to use. Thanks for your anticipated help.
Frank

Also notice the top photo, and that white thing with the thumb screw on it. To the left of that is a hole which needs another one of those white things, sorry I don't know what it is called.

I'VE FOUND PHOTOS OF THE COL-52245 TRANSMITTER ON LINE. 'THE MILITARY RADIO WIRELESS WORKSHOP' HAS PHOTOS AND MANUALS FOR RESTORATION. MY EXPERIENCE WITH RADIOS AND INSTRUMENTS OF THAT PERIOD TEND TOWARD SEMI-GLOSS BLACK ENAMEL PAINT (OIL BASED) WITH THE LETTERING AND MARKINGS APPLIED WITH A SILK SCREEN PRINTER. RADIUM PAINT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE BECAUSE
OF THE RADIATION HAZARD TO THE PEOPLE APPLYING IT.
HOPE THIS HELPS.

Steve
Thanks for the information, although I have no plans to restore this unit, and to be honest, I do not know anyone in my area that does this. I would be happy with the missing knob and the white piece with the thumb screw on it. I hate not calling these things by name, but I had an original TCS Manual, and darned if i can locate it right now.................

Hi Frank ,lettering above hole is very fuzzy in photo I take it it is a hole anyway, white thing pos. creamic/bakelite nonconductor fitted over a brass bolt with a brss butterfly nut both of these appear to be some form of conection that needs to be kept sperate from the case of the set.
The nonconductor would run into the inside of the set were the brass bolt would exit it and join to a wire within the set the creamic stopping the bolt/wire earthing out onto the metal case . The ceramic should be two pieces one inside one outside ond one should have a shoulder to fit through the case. Nowadays they would use plastic.
Hope this helps a little and good to see your cats enjoyed christmas, our old cat received a suprise this year as my wife was asked to mind the three chickens from her school and I had to build them a chicken coop real quick ,shes not to sure of them but they are bigger than her so she keeps her distance.(the cat not the wife)
Happy new Year to you and all.
Dave.

Thanks very much Dave, that help's me at least when I ask for it. Above the hole says receiver, A nice guy contacted me yesterday and is one of those ham radios people, he has passed along my information to all of his friends via the internet and promised to be able to help me with any mising parts.
Watch that Cat of yours, they love Chicken. My three Cats will tangle with just about anything if we let them.

Thanks to a very nice Radio collector, who lives roughly 35 miles from my house, he left me an E-Mail and has donated the entire piece that I need for the TCS-10 Radio. There are some really nice folks out there, his Grandfather served on an attack transport during WWII...........
