I am looking for any RON 40 photos, I can get for reference for my diorama. I need some crew photos also, as I am making my own crew figures. Does anyone have any?
Take care,
TED

Hi Ted,
I got these donated by Kathy and Tom White of Montana. Kathy is Frank Shannons daughter. Frank Shannon was a crewman on RON40 PT600 "Hangover Square" Here are the pictures. I am not sure if I showed you these before....Jerry

PT600 in Samar

RON40 com ceremony in New York

RON40 muster in Samar

PT600 underway

I hope these are helpful!

oops! I meant the crew photo. Also I have seen the photo of PT 600 at Samar before, I always wondered why they reverted back to the single color camo, once out in the zone. As far as I know this was the only late series Pacific PT that did this.
Take care,

Jerry;
In the background of the PT 600 crew photo, is that a location bouy attached to the lifering tending line? If it is, how did this work? did it have a waterproof battery and a light? or did it have a small "Oscar" flag that could be deployed?
"Veeery interesting"! as Artie Johnson on Laugh-in used to say!
Thanks,
TED

Hi Ted,
The only crew name I know is Frank Shannon 2d from right back row. Other than that I have no info. Sorry

The Bouy is a standard Life Ring Marker Bouy that has a battery powered light inside of it. We have some as well on LCI-713. Evidently these are pretty standard items on WW2 Navy ships, attached to throwable life rings. I never thought they used these on PT Boats. But there you are, they used it on PT600 at least!

Thanks Jerry!
As far as I am concerned, if it was on PT 600,it was on all RON 40 boats!
Thanks again,

Jerry;
You hit a home run again! looking at the background of the crew photo, this was taken pierside at Miami Shakedown!! The pier warehouse and the high rise's are the dead give aways here.
Thank again,
Take care,
TED
