Guys,
I have to tell you that I enjoy coming here, picking your brains and starting discussions. We all come here for different reasons. Whether it's sharing stories about the crews, restoring actual PT Boats, looking for information about relatives, building scale models, and more. I for one like to read most of it and treasure the conversations I've been involved with here.

I've been trying to decide how to say this without hurting anyone's feelings. But the bottom line is that this is a free forum and as long as we're all being respectful to one another I think it should be okay to post any question we might have with respect to this topic. If you don't like or are not interested in the post, move on. There's no need to snipe at one another about the subject of a particular post.

I hope that most of you are joking with me. I know I have Advanced Modeler's Syndrome and I'm a bit of a rivet counter, but what's wrong with that? My goal is to be as true as I can to the subject piece and I count on you guys to help me through my projects.

Okay, I got that off my chest and I'm jumping off my soap box now. Let's move on and let's remain good friends.

Dave

Hi David,
You are right. I know that PT-109 is the reason why a lot of people look at this forum, and we all probably owe our interest in the subject to the book, movies the models, and the personality of the President who was her CO. (For me it was McHales Navy!) Keeping everything civil is important to the health of the forum. Sometimes I think there should be a separate forum exclusively dedicated to PT-109 and the modeling of it. If you count the number of separate "Subject Threads" from the last 100 on this forum, it would not surprise me if fully half of them were about or pertaining to PT-109. I just get tired of it sometimes. I think about all of the other PT Boats out there, (both Elco and Higgins) and wonder how come they are all ignored. So to summarize, I truly value your enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge about all the stuff related to PT Boats, and if you have a thing for PT-109, I accept that. After all, like you said, I can simply choose not to read it! So please continue doing what you do and I will get over it. Thanks for being cool, calm and collected about this whole thing. PT Boats forever! Jerry

Jerry.

I think due to Kennedy becoming president that PT-109 is a Cinderella boat. Isn't it interesting that most of those who know something about Kennedy's exploits with PT-109 don't even know that he commanded another boat? I think there must be something that draws people to boats or ships lost at sea. Look at all the hoopla pertaining to R.M.S. Titanic and how little is mentioned about her sister ships Britanic (sunk in 1915) and Olympic. Like PT-109 it's the vessel that was sunk that's become so famous.

Cheers

Well said David.

We normally don't have a 50% 109 ratio, but with Italeri coming out with their version it's prompted a lot of discussion. It will die down.

Earl

There is no doubt that we appreciate your opinions more than anyone else, as you lived it some 68 years ago. I enjoy listening when the Veterans make their voices heard here, but I must say, sometimes all of the constant talk about models might keep the Veterans from posting here. I seem to remember 2 PT Vets that stopped coming here because of the constant model talk. With that being said, I like Jerry sometimes do get a bit put off by the constant back and forth about one subject, which seems to go on and on endlessly. I know that it is important to some, so let it be, if it makes a better boat for modelers than great. Too me, the most important thing is that the boats and the men live on, as it will be guys like us that hopefully will keep the stories of the boats alive. I enjoy being on the message board, and I consider you guys my friends, so let's just move on and "ON TO THE NEXT SUBJECT". Thanks Earl, please keep coming back..................

Merry Christmas Earl. Speaking as one modeler my only hope is that we continue to do justice to the memory of all who served in the PT Boat community. I think we'll see a lot of different boats come out of this new model release that we're all talking about. I'm looking forward to every one of them.
