Dave,
I just realized -- I didn't see any ammo belts for the two twin-.50 caliber turret guns on the pictures of the parts sprues in your review...
Are they there?
The PT 596 kit certainly had them, if I recall correctly.

Look at sprue E and locate the .50 cal guns (upper left corner) - right under the guns is the center pedestal for the guns and then the cell directly under that contains 2 straight sections of belt. They are just to the left of the torpedo tube covers. Not sure if there is anything for the curved ammo boxes and I can't get to my model right now to check but at least there are what appear in the photos to be straight sections.

Italeri modeled the .50 cal ammo belts, probably from the same CAD work they did on the 596 boat. They are short sections but nothing for the ammo trays.
