Hi all,
This may send Dick and Jerry over the edge. As I was pouring through the documents that the Kennedy Library referred me to I came across this picture and decided to keep it for Ted and my collection as well. Great picture of PT-61. Now, in the foreground what do you see? An 80' Elco with depth charges inboard from the edge and close to the torpedo tube. Could this be PT-109? PT-61 and 109 were often tied up together. Another clue to the mystery? We'll never know for sure but it does give a clue about the location of the depth charges on the 109, even if this isn't the 109 boat.

Dave,

We've been through this before....

The photo was taken from the foredeck of the 109. It was included in JFK's personal WWII photo album (other photos of which show the same type of black spotting/smear damage), and was most probably taken at the same time as the famous JFK in the 109 cockpit photos.

I've made the point about the close proximity of the 109's depth charges to it's forward tubes ad infinitum.

Sorry Drew, either I've forgotten or I never saw it. In any event it was a moment of discovery for me (maybe for the 2nd time). I'm sure there's a lot I've missed on this board and even forgotten about. But it was interesting for me to see this and have a better look at the depth charge configuration.

Dave;
I have this photo already, but thanks for thinking of me. This photo was taken at the same time as the others. The Chief standing between the turrets is Cheif Petty Officer Burney Fisk, PT 61's Chief Engineer. Man with hands on his hips is ENS. Ken Prescott, Palmer, one of 61's gunners mates is the man with white t-shirt, the man signaling is either the Radioman, or The Quartermaster, both of which I don't have their names.
Take care,
TED
