Baldor Electrical Company (Ft. Smith, Arkansas) acquired US Motors generator division after the war. I contacted them and unfortunately it was a dead end.

By the way, I have found that Google has scanned in volumes of Popular Mechanics magazines. The link below is a sample.

The boats built sometime after the 305 had two Capitol Engine Company generator units installed, the navy got rid of the 2.5kw US Motors. I believe that we are likely to find a 5.5 kw generator than a 2.5 version. So I will concentrate my efforts in finding a Capitol.

The current issue of Gas Engine Magazine printed my story about the little 2.5 generator. I hope someone has seen one!

Someone sent photos to me of their 2.5kw generator they bought at an auction. I have yet to confirm it is it but it does look like it.

I checked out the photo you sent to me, and it does look like the same generator, pretty close anyway. My question is are you planning to make this a running engine, and if not, I think you have enough there with the present engine to build a decent replica..............

Likely to become a running example of 1944 technology. I can say it may be installed inside the engine room for exhibition purposes.

We already posses two Capitol Engine Gen Sets, and both of those will be utilized during operations.
