I'm on the hunt for one gasoline powered, USNavy furnished, U.S. Motors generator. This may be more difficult to find than the 5.5kw gen set .

Does anyone know what the 2.5 had for the motor? Also, why did these boats have different output gen sets?

I think these engines were Briggs & Stratton that were modified to watercooling by the United States Motors Corporation.

This is going to be a challenge to locate.

Here's a section of a drawing showing the location from the UNO site Jerry: http://www.pt103.com/images/ptpics/higgins/2.5_K.W._Auxiliary_Generator.jpg

This generator was government furnished per Higgins and Elco parts books. Anyhow I am hoping to meet someone that attends antique engine swap meets.

This will be a tough find. My only photos are out of the parts manuals, not enough material about them either.

H Fan;
I suggest you expand your search field. This seems like a perfect generator to run a family farm/barn/chicken house of the period from 1940-1980. Just an idea. Antique Archeology, Mike an Frank.
Take care,
TED

I like the way you think and will do that. Until now I was just contacting the Hit n Miss and antique engine communities have shows and swap engines and etc. Thanks, and have a good day!

Ted, I phoned their Iowa store about two weeks ago about this engine. Not gotten a reply, yet. How did you contact them? Perhaps they are done with PT boats if you already worked with them.
