I think that we are entering a real Golden Age for PT boat modellers.
Thanks to Italeri we now have a reasonably accurate later war 80' Elco boat and a new 103 Class boat has been released. Now Italeri is already asking which boat we'd like to see next.
In addition to the boats we have a few sources for the Maxon quad gun turret as well. At least two companies offer a 40 mm Bofors gun. AFV Club (iirc) also offers a set with ammo and ammo boxes for the 40 mm gun. Those are also in styrene.
With the 40 mm |Bofors gun and the Maxon quad gun turret currently available I can imagine that quite a few PT boat enthusiasts (Frank 4 one) will have many variants in mind to build or be built for them.
If Italeri were to offer the roll off torpedo arnament and the 20 mm and 37 mm auto cannon from their 596 kit as a separate kit (like they did with the 40 mm Bofors gun) the possible options for the 103 Class boat kit will be much greater and thus the market for it could be much greater also.
Because these boats and kits are in styrene they are far less expensive and much easier to assemble than either resin or metal kits.
In addition to these new boats there has also been a vast advance in the miniturization or radio control components such as servos and speed controls. Plus, the price of simple 2-channel radios and of individual servos had dropped dramatically in the last number of years. I expect that there will soon be quite a few styrene 1/35 scale PT-103 Class radio controlled boats cruising the rivers and ponds and on the lookout for enemy ships and barges.
Yes, I think that we modellers of styrene PT boats have entered into a rel |Golden Age.
Cheers from Peter

Not only US subjects but we've seen German, English, and Italian subjects as well.

Let's also request turret mounted 20 mm's. You will need those for the 155 and 156.
