I learned from Doyle Auction (212 427 2730) that the Plaque was withdrawn. With the auction still going on she does not know the reason. May be tomorrow someone can
call to find out the reason and posted on the messageboard.

I heard that the Navy talked to them and told them they (USN) considered it a Navy artifact.

Seems the Navy is considering it still Navy property. I had heard the auction house had no choice. Interesting to see what will happen.

It belongs in a Navy museum for all to view. I've never been to this museum. Frank should have his own wing there! :-)

I think it belongs in the JFK Presidential Library & Museum in Boston -- right next to a museum-quality version of Italeri's upcoming 1/35 scale PT 109 model.
When the Hasbro JFK "G.I. Joe" figure came out, I had a flash about someone building a scale cockpit -- charthouse, complete cockpit and wheel, starboard turret with the twin .50's, and those curved splash shield "wings" -- for that figure to be set in for the museum, in that famous "JFK in PT 109's cockpit" pose.

Nice work! It would be cool to see an accurate PT-109 there as well. Although I understand there is a nice model there already that was presented to JFK.

Hi David,
There is a picture of PT 109 model in the JFK museum on page 161 of my vol. I.

Drew I love that idea about a scale model showing Kennedy in the cockpit. Wish I would have thought of that one last year, now with my JFK EXHIBIT opening in January 2013, there is not enough time.
