I am looking for any information concerning my father, Nolan Kirkman. I know that he was rated as a Machinist Mate; an instructor in Detroit at Packard Motor before going to the south pacific. Any information about him or his boat or squardon would be helpful. I contacted BNP but they can back without any information.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Jeff,
Your Dad's name does show up in the book "Knights of the Sea" but found no further info found on Ron or boat number.

According to the PT Boater list, he was assigned to BASE 10 and LADAVA 717 (this was at Milne Bay in New Guinea).

ADDITIONAL INFO:
Nolan B. Kirkman
Date of current enlistment – 11/20/42
MoMM2
Arrived to BASE 10 on April 3, 1943
Advanced to MoMM1 on 10/1/43
Transferred to Packard PT Mech Eng Overhaul Unit, Milne Bay, for duty 6/26/44
So it appears that he was assigned to shore commands and not to a squadron.
