I have opened up the charthouse door of one of the boats, so My Question is:
The bulkhead directly adjacent to the charthouse ladder and door, was it painted red on production boats at the factory? This bulkhead is painted red on PT 617 at Fall River and is represented in the "80 Foot Elco PT Boat on deck book"
Take care,

I really think the red was something they painted at Fall River to highlight the area. All the interior shots I have seen, show the walls as white, with black around the doors and trim. I am only basing this on what I see in black and white photos, so I have no proof positive about the red, but in my opinion I would say no...........

Ted,
Check the scenes in "PT 109" when the actors playing "Lt. Brantingham" (during the August 1-2 patrol when the 109 was lost) and "Lt. Cluster" (during a patrol after the 109 ramming/sinking) drop down into the charthouse from the cockpit...
I know those are only Warner Bros. movie "sets," but I think the interior colors are pretty accurate.
