My wife and I went to the PT Boat muesum at Battleship Cove in Fall River, MA. on 9/25/12. I called Don Shannon before hand and he gave us a private tour of both PT Boats which was awsome! We got to walk on deck and also go below. I really felt my Dad smiling down on me. I really got to appriciate what he and the other PT Boat guys went through. I want to give a plug to Don & the Muesum, Everything is well done, we loved not only the PT Boats but all the other ships & displays. It's well worth the trip!

It's always a thrill when you take a trip to Battleship Cove. I remember my first visit there when the Elco boat made it's first showing to the public. She was just finished from being restored, and at that time she was kept outdoors with no cover. I took my boys there once a year from the time they were 8 and 6 years of age. We would stay at the Day's Inn, and have a ball. Those were special times when you consider they are now 32 and 30 years of age. I met many PT BOAT VETS at the cove over the past 35 years or so, which was always a thrill for me. Back in those days, the PT BOAT Coordinator was a man named Frank Szypineiak, which I know I spelled that last name wrong. He took me under his wing, and showed me everything. He was a great guy.
Don Shannon and I have known each other for many years. He is a great guy and a true asset to PT BOATS INC. There is not much he doesn't know about the boats, and getting to meet him for the first time is always nice. I think outside of the PT BOATS, the USS MASSACHUSETTS is one of my favorite things to see there. Glad you enjoyed your time spent there, you must go back...............
