Saturday afternoon I attended the Boston Film festival for the showing of the film documentary "The Lost Reunions". We had a great time there, as I met PT BOAT VETERAN, Ray Wilbur from PT-495 and his son Ray Jr. Danny Diaz, who produced the film was there as well as his staff. The Theater was really something with comfortable couches and unreal sound system. There was a question and answer period after the show, and Ray was given a real nice applause by those in attendance. I think people really enjoyed seeing the PT Boat Vets in the film. Here are a few photo's from the afternoon.

Whe someone like Frank has such a deep abiding interest in something, it's wonderful he can meet with actual crewmen. I rally hope these stories that the veterans have will be collected and written down for future generations.

For the US it has been 71 years since WW2 started. For a ten years old child now that would almost be comparable to a 10 years old kid in 1941 reading about the American Civil War. In 2022 it will be comparable for a kid then.

Soon, unfortuately, all the vets will be gone and WW2 will be relegated to the dim recesses of history along with all the other wars of history.

From 'Flower of Scotland' but very applicable to all WW2 vets:

"...when will we see yer likes again?"

I believe that generation was unique and such as they will not be seen again.

Cheers

Ted, we were so busy enjoying this event, that I really never got the chance to ask him. One of the great pleasures of the day was looking into the audience and seeing all the young people in attendance. I had some time to sit with Ray Wilbur Sr. and talk with him about his time spent on PT-495, and he told me some interesting things. I hope to have more time to chat with him in the very near future. Pete, your right, our WWII Vets should write down their experiences, for fear of losing the things they did forever. Being at the Boston Film Festival was indeed a treat, but seeing what the subject matter was had to be the highlight for me............

I heard from Danny Diaz, who said the film "Lost Reunions won an award at the Boston Film Festival for BEST NEW DIRECTOR. Great job by that whole group for putting together a nice film in honor of our PT BOAT VETERANS. When this does come out on DVD, I know you guys will really like it.........................
