On the Cybermodel web site MRC distributor in the US for Italeri posted an announcement on the new 109 kit. You'll find it at this link...

http://www.cybermodeler.com/news/italeri.shtml

I reached out to check in with my friends at Italeri to see if they have any updates they can share with us. Stay tuned!

Dave, exciting News. If this art work is going to be the final one for the box, I think it looks great. It looks as if ITALERI has really paid attention to all of the details. I look forward to purchasing this kit, which I think will be an even bigger run than the 596.

Hey David . . .
Do you think Stefano could give us some "first look" photos when they are ready to release the model. It would be cool if he gave us a nice heads up to show on this board at or before all the model sources start promoing it.

Just a thought,

Don't mean to put the cart before the horse, but...any news on a seperate Italeri "PT 109" 1/35th scale crew-figure set?

Just had another random thought...hope they've engineered the kit so the forward ends of the tubes can be placed in launching position(s).

Yet another...hope in addition to the 37mm gun (and 2''x 8'' plank mounts?) they'll include complete parts for a standard 103-class 80' Elco, some of which were apparently missing or not used on the 109...

Nice to see that the long wait for a decent PT-103 Class boat is nearly over. At first glance the $189.00 price seems like a lot but it isn't when one considers the price of the Lindberg kit and all, even just the styene, needed to make it a reasonablemodel never mind the time required to do that. I suppose that Itaeri will, like they did with the 40 mm Bofors gun and Dragon did with the Manxon .50 quad turret, release the 37 mm as a separate kit. That'll make the 1/35 scale armour guys happy too.

Cheers

Hi guys,
This morning I sent my two contacts at Italeri a request for anything they could share with us. Test shots, whatever. I believe we challenged them by throwing so much information their way and I know Steve was up against a tight deadline. I'm very proud of you all for stepping up and providing so much helpful and constructive information and I think that's reflected in their press release. I'm hopeful that we'll have the opportunity to unveil it here. As soon as I have something to share with you, with their permission I will. Thanks again everyone.

Drew, I just realized I didn't answer your question...

No word on a crew for this kit. It would be cool to have JFK and the rest modeled, all half dressed of course. I did suggest to them that they make an accessories set including all the fun things that have ever been thrown on a PT. Especially SO Radar, old style 37mm, etc. I suspect they already have the 40mm Bofors. Would be fun and create an endless opportunity of subjects. We'll see.

Dave,

Personally, I'd still prefer to see a 109-specific crew in battle-dress and kapoks (although JFK may actually have worn an wrap-around inflatable life belt?), as on a patrol... I'd like to see a JFK figure with the OD USMC/Navy fatigue cap, and maybe a Lenny Thom beared figure, but all that is probably too much to hope for. Figures like that could be bashed by a skilled modeler anyhow, I guess.

The "half-dressed" look would, of course give the option of posing a crew on the boat in a dockside, shoreline, or nest-moored scenario...

I am surprised that with all of the express interest for certain PT BOAT FIGURES, some company hasn't jumped on it. Being able to get an entire crew in 1/35 scale looking as they really did in the Pacific, in my mind would be a money maker. I know I would love to get already made figures with fatigue hats, shorts, beards, etc, for my projects. It just opens up plenty of doors for the guys who build these wonderful boats to do so much more.......

Accurate Model Parts knew of somebody who was working on figures but they never materialized. I think it would be cool to have a JFK figure and crew. We'll see.
