I realize I have asked this before, but my 1/35th scale diorama idea for Miami Shakedown is formulating, I now have 4 1940 Ford Convertibles, 2 1936 Ford roadsters, and 1 1934 Ford Coupe. Right now I am interested in RON 38/39/40 Miami pierside/quaywall photos.Does anyone have any?
I am looking at PT 586(Thom Cat)LTjg Lennie Thom RON 39 and PT 599(Katcha Maru)LTjg Rumsey Ewing RON 40. Since RON 39 and RON 40 were so close in commissioning dates is it possible they were at Miami Shakedown at the same time?

FYI: PT 586 Laid down 21 September 1944 by the Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ
Launched 12 March 1945
Completed 30 March 1945, placed in service and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron THIRTY NINE (PTRon 39)

PT 599 Laid down 23 December 1944 by the Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ
Launched 3 May 1945
Completed 25 May 1945, placed in service and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron FORTY (PTRon 40)

My RON 38 interset is of PT 569(Will sent me two partial photos, one of crew out in Pacific and another showing partial port side and two crew members practicing taking a fix) of course, Carlton Byrd's last boat. I notice the boat had no "nickname: so if I do model this boat, I will apply Carlton's own nickname to the boat. His nickname, for his whole life was "Byrd Dog" because of his duck hunting skills learned in his youth, later in his PT days, his friends like John Iles and Bill Battle who he took duck hunting often, after the war(according to Mr. Iles in the 1960's on the Eastern Shore of Virginia) always called him "Byrd Dog".
PT 569's info is as follows:Laid down 26 May 1944 by the Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ
Launched 25 October 1944
Completed 23 December 1944, placed in service and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron THIRTY EIGHT (PTRon 38). PTRon 38, assigned to the Southwest Pacific, arrived at Samar, Philippines, in May, June, and July, 1945. The squadron based there and at Basilan Island, Philippines, but had no action except for strafing of shore installations in Borneo early in August 1945.
well thats all for now.
Take care,
TED

Ted,
I can't help you with your photos. But thought you might be interested in these. I saw a sprue from this kit today and it is exquisite. Includes all the stenciling as well.
