I visited last October with Don and his wife Corinne when travelling to see our grandkids in NC. Last week I called and rec'd a return call this evening from Corinne. She reports that Don fell and fractured his hip and is in a nursing home for re-hab. For those who may know, Alex Johnson had built a beautiful model of Don's PT-297 which of course Don wanted to show off while I was there. I know that both Don and his wife would love to hear from all on the message board. He's already overcome a stroke and was able to go on an Honor Flight to D.C. about 1-1/2 years ago. They are great folks. Here is the Ryan's address: 9149 Forest Drive. SW, Sunset Beach, NC 28468.

Randy
Thanks for sharing the link to these folks. I will write when I get the chance. It was sad to see the boat my friend ALEX JOHNSON built for him, I know how proud he was to do it for Mr. Ryan. Alex did nice work................

Wow! That is a beautiful model of the 297. Alex was a master modeler -- RIP.
Wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr. Ryan.

Update on PT veteran Don Ryan in NC. I called this afternoon and Corinne answered saying they were just walking in the door. She quickly told me that he is doing 'ok', but that it will take some time to recuperate due to required physical therapy and swelling of his leg. She wanted me to let all know that they appreciate very much the cards/notes that were sent.
