Robert
Thanks for the update on PT-486. I feel bad because here is another WWII PT BOAT, that will most likely sit around like the others have in Kingston, NY. Tim Ivory is great guy, with much experience and desire to get the job done, but I would bet his hands will be tied once again. Sorry but the guy who has purchased this boat does not have a very good reputation, and most folks in the area won't have much to do with him. I hope and pray that I am wrong, and trust me, I will be the first to stand in line and say I was wrong, should this boat ever be ready for the water. My bet is that it might get some work done to her, but will sit like the others, to be sold off to the highest bidder.............

Glad I got to go out on her before she was sold. It's a shame the previous owner couldn't get her completed. Cross your fingers she doesn't wind up as scrap. Tom

Jim, I heard through the grape-vine that the boats are for sale. This is nothing concrete, just something I heard in passing. You are correct, I too would hate for this boat to just sit there, but if I were a betting man, my money would be on that she does just that. As I said in one of my earlier post's, I will be the first one to stand up and say I was wrong, but let's just wait and see.................

I don't know anyone that would have the kid of money laying around to buy one let alone try and restore it. If you get one be sure it comes with a friggin endowment. The big lesson I learned from 761. I basically paid (still paying) to get rid of trash the guy Whyte didn't want to pay to do.
When I read the History Ianucci gives on his boats they are not entirely accurate. 486 served allot longer than 15 years as a tour boat.
I still play the lottery when I can afford to. I have been out of work for about a year.
