Hi there.

I still haven't found a sitethat compares British, German and United States coastal craft but some of the kits I ordered have arrived here.

?To go with my Revell 1/72 scale PT-109 kit I now have the 1/72 Airfix Vosper and the 1/72 scale Revell German S-Boat with the quad 20 mm turret.

It's interesting how these boats differ from each other. It seems to me that the S-Boat was the most heavily armed of the three and next was the PT boat and the Vosper came in third. It seems to me that the larger British Fairmile ClassD Motor Gun Boat was intended to counter the S-Boats. I wish there was an injection molded styrene 1/72 scale model of the Fairmile MGB available.

I bet the crews of the Vospers really envied the PT boat crewmen their .50 cal. machine guns.

1/72 scale is a nice sizet o build, display and to radio-control if one wants to. With the micro-servos and compact speed controls available now even the smaller Airfix Vosper can be radio-controlled.

The lineup of available 1/72 scale boats is getting pretty extensive too. I have the 1/72 scale Revell Flower Class Corvette (converting it to Royal Canadian Navy and radio-control) and will be getting the 1/72 Revell Type VIIC U-boat and the 1/72 scale Revell Gato submarine (United States Navy) sometime in the near future.

When looking at the various hulls of these boats and ships it's really striking just how small the PT boats really were. It must have been quite the adventure riding on these small craft when the sea was rough.

Cheers from Peter

When we did PT-108 in honor of EARL RICHMOND, we put her next to the 1/72 Goto class model. This Diorama as you may or may not know, showed the transfer of a downed Pilot. It is amazing how small the PT BOAT was to the SUB. When I look at that, I am always amazed at how well the boats did considering their small size. It's even more amazing when you put the PT BOAT next to a 1/72 Destroyer........

Christian

Is it possible for you to show us on this message board what you have for the Elco PT Boats. I think I would like to see those very much, or do you have a web site.

Hi

Hulls only (with sized drawing) but buying an Airfix Vosper MTB kit gives you most of what you need in terms of armaments and fittings. They have been re-released and are quite inexpensive.

Regards, Christian.

Ahoy there Christian.

How much is a 1/72 Fairmile hull and plans? Is there someplace we can see the plans too?

I have two of the 1/72 scale Airfix Vosper models that are unbuilt. After building m y 1/72 Revell Flower Class Corvette (not thte Premium Edition) I'm pretty confident I can do a Fairmile to my satisfaction.

Cheers from Peter

Hi

Thanks,

The price for a 1/72nd hull that size is 35 pounds plus p&p (about another 15 pounds), there's a 15% discount if you buy more than one hull (any of the types available), pm me your email address and I'll send you a scan of the GA drawing, also a full price-list (I don't want to post that here or else I'll get in trouble with the moderators).

Regards, Christian.
