This just posted on PT Boats facebook page.

Alyce & Allyson are deeply saddened to inform you that one of our Board Members and long-time supporters died last night. Alex Johnson was an extremely loved and well-thought of friend of ours. His death was a result of a car accident. Please keep his wonderful wife, Polly, his son David and daughter, Sarah, in your thoughts and prayers at this extremely difficult time.

Fair winds and following seas...............
Sadly, Gary

Alyce ask me to post the following:

" Longtime BMOH member, historian and modeler Alex Johnson was in a bad accicent six weeks ago. HQs received the sad notification from his wife Polly, that he died July 9 in the evening. Polly is requesting that any memorials be made to PT Boats, Inc. Alex was a member of the board; his input will certainly be missed. "

Very sad news.

Alex please rest in peace you will be missed dearly.

I am so hurt over this terrible news. Alex and I were very good pals, and he was here at the house with Polly and the Kids before. His last visit was when he brought over the PT-374 Memorial project. As I write this, the tears are hitting the keyboard, I loved this Kid. We spoke several times a week, mostly about PT BOATS, but many times about his wonderful family, his Wife Polly and 2 beautiful children. He loved PT Boats, and cherished his family, and his friends. If you knew Alex, you could not help but like him right away. We had a great friendship, not because of PT BOATS, but because we just enjoyed each other.

He would send me photo's of the Kids, making sure to send me one with his son Davy, playing with his RC PT BOAT. Rest assured Alex, that I loved you Pal, I will miss you very much. When those gates of Heaven open for you, won't you be surprised to see the many PT Boaters you knew, and the many we spoke about. When you get there buddy, let me know the real color of PT-109 will ya. LOVE YA BUDDY.......

Alex;
I am speechless....Go with God my friend, and say Hi to Boats Newberry, Big Mike Pessolano, as they bring the real PT 155 up to the pier to pick you up, and say Hi to all the PT Boaters that have gone before you.

Such a tragedy and great loss of a mutual friend of many. In the PT Facebook page, his wife mentioned any gifts in his memory to send to PT Boats Inc., which I know we will all want to do. As you said Frank, he was so easy to visit with. I had a couple of occasions to do just that at the 46th & Final PT Boat Reunion in July 2010, and took a couple photos of Alex and his beautiful family while climbing around on the PT-796 at Battleship Cove. Alex will certainly be missed.
