Yesterday, my wife and I took our kids down to Arlington National Cemetery to pay our respects to the men and women of our armed forces across our nation's history from the Civil War through Iraq and Afghanistan. We visited the Tomb of the Unknowns and several PT Boater's graves. Below is a shot of my daughter and I at the grave of Rear Admiral John Harllee (RONs 1, 2, 12, Seventh Fleet) who I was close to in the later years of his life.
A big salute with gratitude to all of our men and women, past and present, to who we owe so much!

What a Beautiful Grave Stone. I am so surprised at how big Sara has gotten. It's great to see you as well, we have not talked in some time. God bless our Veterans who have made the supreme sacrifice. It was once said that the real heroes were the ones that never made it home. HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY to everyone...........

Well spoken all. The WWII veterans that I travelled with on their Honor Flight to Washington D.C. all echoed the same thing: it is not them that should be honored, but their brothers in arms who didn't make it back. They remind us younger folk that today was originally known as Remembrance Day, and that Memorial Day is not just another holiday. Some feel they do not deserve all of the attention to make the trip to our Nation's capitol, but we encourage them to do so, in part to honor those who have made the supreme sacrifice.

Great story and photo, Alex.
If I may ask -- why the USMC EGA on Admiral Harllee and family's headstone?
