How far did PT 3 travel on the shakedown cruise? Did she merely escort them out to sea - halfway - complete trip?

Check out the Administrative History of PT Boats on Dick's website, http://www.gdinc.com/download-01.html, for great details of early PT development. Here's an excerpt from it:

Plans to remain in Florida until May were cut short when, on 26 March 1941, most of the boats were earmarked for immediate transfer to Great Britain. The boats designated for transfer to the United Kingdom were PT’s 3, 4, 5, and 7 from Squadron One, and PT’s 9 through 15 from Squadron Two. The letter promulgating the transfer stated that enough additional units to raise the total to 19 would be transferred in the near future. This virtually eliminated Squadron One as an operational element, and made serious inroads into Squadron Two. Delivery dates were set in the first two weeks of April, so the boats started north immediately.

Great images Mark. What is it about the 6th image you are pointing out?

Mark;
The second photo on page 4 is really nice. If it wasn't marked Miami, I would think it was taken around Glen Head or Amityville on Long Island.
Take care,
TED
