I just received an E mail from Joe's sister, who informed me that Joe passed away on April 22, 2012, while in the Hospital. We spoke on the phone many times, and as you may or may not know, Joe did a series of books on Torpedo Boats, and PT Boats. He was also an excellent illustrator. My deepest sympathy to his Family.

I also was very sad to learn of Joe's death. He and I worked closely together on the 11 volumes of his pictorial and chronological history of motor torpedo boats. I learned an awful lot from him and he is one of the ones from whom I caught the PT boat "bug". He will be missed.

Although I never met Mr. Joe Hinds in person, I long familiar with his works. Learning of
his death is like a family member passed away. I wish you smooth sailing Joe.
