Thanks Jonathan,
This boat has been discussed here quite recently. We were told it was placed on sale on the Hammacher Schlemmer website about a month ago. The current owner up in Kingston NY must have changed his mind about keeping it. I know they have been taking the boat out on trips all up and down the East Coast as recently as 2010. He also has several other PT Boats up there including the 77foot Elco PT48 and an 80 foot Elco PT716 and a 78 FT Higgins PT459. I hope they are successful. I hope the new owner will be somebody who appreciates the history that the boat represents. Thanks for making sure the message board was aware of this event. Jerry PT658 Portland

You meant PT 615, and don't forget PT 486.
Take care,

I am in hopes that money raised for the sale of PT-728, would go towards the restoration of one or some of the other boats they have in storage. I know that Tim Ivory does what he can, but as he is not the guy putting out the money, the boats just sit there. They have a ton of history in the remaining boats they have, not to mention the Packard Marine Engines, but you need sponsors, volunteers, companies in the area to donate materials, and a non-profit status. I do not know if any of this exist's with this group. In fact, I do not even know if they have a mailing list. The thought of restoration is always a good thing, we need to get more boats out there for the pubic to see, but if you do not have the proper backing, the boats or whatever you are restoring will just sit there.

Hey everybody,
I just found this on the internet, it seems that PT728 was purchased by Liberty Aviation Museum, in Port Clinton Ohio excerpt from their home page

PT-728

11 APR 2012

Liberty Aviation Museum is assembling "fleet" of PT-Boats. We have just added the fully restored and operational PT-728 to our collection. More details forthcoming.

PT-728 joins her sister, PT-724, which is already in our collectiona and currently undergoing a full restoration

Just FYI. I wonder if they paid the US $1 Million? Curious.

Jerry
