Hi everyone,
One of our group, Bill Weaver went down to California and met with the museum curator of the Port Huyneme Ca museum, and found several photos of the ex PT Boats still in use as PT Mugu missile range patrol boats and target towing boats from 1949 to the 1970's. Here they are. The first one is really neat since it shows RCT13 RCT14 and RCT15 in their nearly "as delivered" condition. RCT= Remote Control Target (guess) The twin gun tubs are still on there as are the original radar masts, also the foundation platforms for the 40mm on the stern and for the 37mm on the bow. (keystone shaped wooden pedestals on deck) Note the TV cameras on the forward mast of the boat in the foreground, it must have been for filming the missiles as they hit the target? I thought you guys may enjoy seeing these recently found pictures!

You sure post some interesting pictures Jerry, thanks once again.

IUW might stand for Inshore Undersea Warfare according to this site: http://www.history.navy.mil/library/online/cincpac_gloss.htm

Don and Jeff;
IUW stands for Inshore Undersea Warfare Group One, they were responsible for habor security and sent many detachments to Vietnam, they were the higher command for west coast MIUW units, and have evolved into todays SECDET's(security detachments.
take care,
TED
