Dear Sir, I posted a couple of questions some spell ago; to which I have had absolutely no responses. I recon them to be answerable. What did I do wrong. Do they appear to be stupid or spoofs?, that is not my intention. Can you please assist me? Cheers, John. 32/2 12 9:112 am.

Could just be new to the board and asking a question that has been answered a hundred times before.

Your choice on moniker (Pappy BJ) might of made members standoffish.

Or maybe ANOTHER PT-109 question, there are a few on the board that are purely mesmerized by the 109 and/or Kennedy. However, you can't believe the number of emails I get with the subject "NOT ANOTHER PT-109 JFK QUESTION". Luckily for me members are usually polite enough not to add this to a post, but they are sure to send a disapproving email. I clearly sympathize with them on most all occasions, specially when there were hundreds of boats to talk about and hundreds of skippers that spent the entire war in a PT not just a part-time several month tour - that's a little harsh, but in my solely view, to the point! If Dick Kersey had ran for president we would be talking about PT-105 and a longer career instead. You probably weren't around when we had knock-down, drawn-out fights as to "what shade of green was the 109" or "how was the 37mm anti tank gun mounted or lashed to the deck to keep it from falling off". On and on. I remember Kennedy made a comment in an interview with something to the point of this "the story has been told so many times by so many different people I no longer really remember the facts," all in all just a game of musical chairs. However, when I was a young liberal democrat - I still remember as a young Altar Boy having Father O'Healy and O'Shay instructing us (altar boys) not to allow any car to leave the parking lot without a JFK bumper sticker applied to front and back those shinny 1960 chrome bumpers. Every Sunday extra altar boys were added during mass to patrol the parking lot while the owners were in church attending services. Occasionally we would get caught by one of "those mean old filthy rich hateful republicans, OMG" only to have Father O'Healy promise he would see we were punished, then give us big smile and a good boy nod in place of today's high-five. Sunday’s were long days and lots of cars starting with early 6 am mass continuing another 6 masses until High Mass at 12 noon - wow - I wonder if that violated child labor laws.

Back to the question:

It's nothing you've done, your just one of the board's newbie and like everything in life you have to wait to get in the pecking order. Just stay on board and have fun, its nothing personal.

Please keep posting, but please, please don't ask what shade of GREEN was JFK's PT-109, please I'm begging.

All the best,
Dick . . .

G'Day John,
You are doing nothing wrong, except maybe getting hot under the collar for no reason.
Its been my experience that there are 3 types of members here on the forum,
1-Veterans
2-People who want to keep the PT Boats and Men, Remembered and Honoured.
3-Modellers (who are a mixture of all of the above)

The members here are a great bunch of blokes, and they will answer questions if they know.If you get no reply to a post then they dont know or have answered it a hunded times already.Be Patient Mate.
The 109 topic has been done to death here on the forum, and a lot of members dont talk about it,as there is a concensus that it belittles the other Boats and men, because that is the only one that everyone knows.
If i were you i would take the time to search through the older posts, there you will find just about every answer you desire about the 109 and all of the others.

Im sorry if i offend you and other members with my thoughts, but there are many posts that go unanswered,(i should know ,imagine being an Aussie trying to talk to educated US PT Men )

This is a fantastic forum, the knowledge and personalities here are first rate.
If you are indeed interested and or connected to the Boats in some way, stay with it mate, the more people that remember these Boats the better.

This is only my opinion, and i apoligize to members if i have stuck my nose in where it doesnt belong and overstepped the mark, but another person interested in the Boats is another person that wont forget them..
Cheers Michael.

RIP-Russ i miss you Mate

Michael

Dear Michael, I really appreciate your candid thoughts as expressed in your last note. First rate mate. & I 4 1 will NEVER forget the boats...................many reasons here........
On the topic of rememberance .....I had had a thought the other day, I sent it 2 a chap who mentioned his exibits, about a thought that dropped into my otherwise empty mind. I thought I would broach it & see if yourself or any others might have a similar inkling & maybe we could do the community a big service .
I wondered if maybe a simple learning programme iniation in grade school might not just provide an important educational forum, but also might spark some interest in the young folks & maybe their parents too. Absence of knowledge & understanding is the worlds worst parasite to me. So.......after a wee ponder......what think you sir? I recon there 2 B a LOT of talented, knowledgeable and capable folk hereabouts & the sky's the limit I recon. Cheers, B.J. 28/2/12 4:01 am.
Cheers,

B.J.

As an aside I do understand and can totally sympathize with the others on the PT-109 topic. In my own case I really love them all. After some study I think I got more of a hankering for the 80' Elcos & the 103 class seems to have crept up the list some too. I guess my museeum type of scale building mania on an un intentional version of the 109 project caused my inquisitive mind to pose some questions on that unit. Not gonna happen nomore though. Y'all do have a great day & tnx again for dropping me the note. Cheers, B.J. 28/2/2012 4:12 am.
