Michael;
I don't knw if any photos exist for the period you are referring too. I have seen full boat photos of PT 105 off the east coast in 1942 and in the Philippines in 1945. the time frame you are looking for is May 1943-Jan 1944.
Take care,
TED

Hi Michael,
I have not come across any photos of the 105 with the .50 on the bow as Mr. Keresey described to me. I have a very poor quality shot of the 105 with the 37mm on the bow and another which shows the location of the twin .50's deck mounted on the starboard side of the boat, aft of the fuel tank filler. Unfortunately those are the only late war photos of the 105 I've seen.

About all I have is a fuzzy shot of the 108 with what looks like a .50 mounted on the starboard side just forward of the charthouse.

I want to thank everyone for the replys i recieved. Thank you very much! I wonder if Dick would have done like someone else had done, placeing the 50 on the bow where he saw someone else place it? I guess the absence of evidence allows me to place it where it ligically would go and no one can say otherwise huh? Thanks again.

What Mr. Keresey told me was that the .50 cal was mounted to a pipe which extended through the deck. It was mooted behind the cleat. He told me that he never went up there to look at it. Mr. Iles recalls a .50 cal as well as the 37mm.

I would take a look at some of the examples on other boats where this was done. Generally a short pipe extending from the deck. Crews would tend to fire these from their knees. They usually have some sort of extra reinforcement flanges around the base of the pipe. That's how I'm planning on doing mine along with an ammo box hanging on the side of it.

Wow.....thanks! I would have though the 50 would have been further up the fordeck. Is there a 37mm just out of view in this case with the 108? Probably not, it would be to far than right? Thanks again folks.
