I should have been more specific. David Doyle just released a new book on the Higgins PT boat which is now available at Squadron.

I saw it already being listed on EBAY, of course it's a much higher price then buying it at Squadron. I hope it contains some good information (like you said) which will help in the construction of some HIGGINS PT BOAT models. Maybe I could have Jerry make me one for the Exhibit in his spare time, lol.

Got my copy this morning. Aside from a few minimal gripes, I was impressed, especially as this was a Squadron publication. There were a couple not-exactly-accurate photo captions, a mediocre profile drawing, and a somewhat altered top view taken from my PT209 plans (permission to use given many years ago), but that's about the extent of the negatives.
Unlike most of the recent books on PTs, this one is extremely well laid out with no wasted space, large sharp clear photos on coated stock, and a lot of really fine color shots, especially of 658. Other than captions, text is almost non-existent. Pure and simple, this is a photo book. It does not pretend to be anything else. While most of us have seen most of the WWII photos included, the selection is very useful and there are a number of them, especially interior shots, that I've never before seen.
IMHO, it's a nice addition to the literature on PTs.

I agree with Al. I received mine today and am very pleased. The book begins with some nice historical shots. In addition to the extensive photos of 658 boat there are also photos of the 309 Oh Frankie boat on display at the Nimitz Museum of the Pacific in Fredericksburg, TX. What I like about the 309 spread is that they start with a nice historical photo of the 309 then switch to the museum restoration shots.
Thanks Mr. Doyle for a nice reference book!
