can someone please verify the colour of the paint used inside the vent cowlings on as delivered to customer 80' 103 type boats. Spesifically 109 would even be better. Cheers, John.

Hi John, welcome to the board.
A drawing for PTs 103-196 and 314-325 states "Cowl vents to be painted deck gray. Inside to be flat black for "blackout"."

I checked other drawings. The same note is on the cowl vent drawing that lists all the other 80' boats.

And yet another difference. I wish I could go back in time to the Elco Plant, and see first hand some of the boats being made, and painted.. As I stated, you would not be wrong with a two tone vent, flat black, darker green, darker gray, whatever................

Your very welcome. I am sure by using a darker shade for the inside of the vents, you will be fine. Just do not make anything a high gloss, but flat colors...........

Not to hijack the thread, but as opposed to "as delivered", would the insides of the cowl vents on a boat in the combat zone be painted the same color as the boat's camouflage, or would would it be in a "blackout" configuration with the insides painted flat black?
TIA,
Bob
