Hey guys, I thought I would share with you a few of the items I received in today's mail from the family of G.S. Tremaine. As you know Mr. Tremaine was Irwin Chase's assistant at the Elco Naval Division, before being promoted to Works Manager. Most of the items in today's package deal with after the war artifacts, but I thought the brochures were really awesome, as I have never seen them before, The photo showing phone numbers was Mr. Tremain's telephone book he kept in his office.

That brochure is cool and kind of sad. Thanks for posting it. It seems like kind of a final indignity that the PT in the picture appears to be backwards, with the forward 50 cal.s on the port side of the helm!

I am sure it was sad for all of those upper management team players. They put their heart and soul into building Elco into the finest boat builders in the World, and yet the over-head of that huge plant, and their refusal to use cheaper materials, was their demise. No doubt the brochure was printed up by the Auction House, as Elco would never make that mistake. Glad you like the brochures, I thought they were neat as well............

When I can, I will try and list some more interesting items from this collection, and one really neat document from the Allan Montgomery collection..............

Here is another artifact sent by the family of Mr. Tremaine. From what the Granddaughter related to me, this was a presentation piece made by Elco, and was used by Tremaine as a Cigarette container on his office desk over the years he worked there.

Frank,

That aerial photo of the Elco plant is fantastic -- I've never seen it before.

Any chance of repeating a good scan of just that photo for posterity?

Sure Drew, I will scan it and send it along when I have some free time. I hope it comes out alright as it is off of the magazine. I will try and get some of the inside shots as well, provided it does not harm the spine.
