Greetings,
Now that I'm back building again I'm hoping somebody has some detail about how the smoke generator is secured to the deck on 103 class Elcos. I know it has a band around the top and the photos I've seen show it secured with a square turnbuckle affair with hook. I'm okay there. I'm wondering how it's secured on the outboard side.
Thank you
Dave

ELCO reel 3, image 146 shows the strapping arrangement for the smoke screen generator for 565 on. Essentially, each strap has a hook at each end. One is attached directly to the strap while the other is attached to a threaded coupler which acts much like a turnbuckle.

Hi David,
I looked on the Historic naval ships Assocition website and found a manual about smoke generators. They even have a couple of photos of PT Boats carrying smoke generators. It may help to look it over. Jerry

Thanks Jerry! Buried in all that information was what I was looking for. Strap with hook on one side, with hook and turnbuckle on the other.
