Hi all - just wanted to say that I had a recent trip to Maryland. My sisters and I went to DC. We were able to visit PT Boats member Earl Richmond - we had a great day with him. He has been having some eye trouble but is in great shape!! I met Earl through the PT Boats board so it was nice to meet him in person.
We also went to the National Archives - I am forever in search of information on my uncle's boat, PT 300. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to come up with anything more than I already have. My sisters combed the photographic files of PT boats and saw many amazing pictures, but none of PT 300.
When looking for information on my father's time in the Navy I came across some dispatches from the 7th Fleet related to PT Boats. It is always wonderful to hold the actual piece of paper in your hands!! The dispatches do not have a great deal of information, but really cool anyway!! Please see below:
Pictures from my recent trip to Maryland with my sisters to meet Earl and go to the National Archives.
We named ourselves "Earl's Girls"! From left to right are Colleen, Eileen, Kathleen, Cheryl and Earl.
Many of you know Earl from the message board. He posts here about his time in the navy on PT boats.
Thanks!
Colleen

COLLEEN;
As Al said Thanks, this give us some timeline info which we have been missing,and I needed an answer to. In you second message PT 38 is mentioned, some months ago Charlie found a photo of PT 38 back at Melville. This message proves PT 38 did not come back from the Solomons with PT 39, PT 40, PT 47, PT 48, PT 59, in August 1944, as we know these boats did, but PT 38 came back after sometime after this message was sent on 19 Jan 1945, releasing her fron CNB SOSOLS(Commander Naval Base, Southern Solomons ie: Tulagi). PT 45 which was mentioned in the same message, and was used as a VIP transport/dispatch boat/pilot boatdid not come back from Noumea, But there is a really nice video of her on YOU TUBE!
Earl looks like he really enjoyed your visit, good for him!!!
Thanks again,
take care,
TED

Thanks for sharing these documents with us. Earl is a great guy with which I have had the pleasure of writing to. He looks like he is having the time of his life, surrounded by Beautiful Women, and I don't blame him..........If you ever get the chance, I am always looking for documents from PT-374, Squadron 27.........
