All;
Today I was surprised to received an e-mail from Mr. Jan Vladar, he is a World War Two Historian and archeologist from Pilsen, Czech Republic, he is also co-author of Operace Argument(Operation Argument) which was the code name of "Big Week". His book is the story of 3 missing planes of the 98th BG that were shot down on 25 Feb 1944. Jan and his group located a crash site of one of these planes and have recovered 3 Pratt&Whitney engines from the B-24, plus dog tags from the crew, and other various gear.
Well he is asking me for info concerning my father's Then Brother-in-law, 1st LT. Charles W. "CHUCK" Edwards the pilot of "Bell of the Brawl" B-17G 42-107202 code letter "Q" 563rd BS 388th BG who was shot down ove Brux, Czechoslavakia Aug 24, 1944. They were the only plane lost that day by the 388BG. Chuck was KIA but 4 of his crew got out and survived the war.
Jan has asked for my assistance, so of course I will help him......for Chuck.
Take care and enjoy the weekend,
TED
