As for views of the interior of the turret, there are two photos that I think come from Frank's collection that are quite useful: "Melville 003.jpg" and "Melville 029.jpg". The latter shows a scrap heap of MK18 tubes and several turret rings. The rings are not from a DeWandre nor a MK17, so I suspect they are the interim mounts fitted to the second series 77' boats.

Alright that's it, I think I'll have Stan build me PT-109. I love it, this just gets better and better. Hmmm, maybe I can combine both boat numbers. In any event, we'll just make the boat, and add the numbers last.

What do we know about the 67 boat? Maybe you could compromise and build that.

PT 67 was destroyed along with PT 119 in accidental fire 17 March 1943 while refueling at Tufi, New Guinea. Their remains are still there. Check out www.pacificwrecks.com/
take care,

Hey guys just curious here. Did PT 66 ever have a shark-tooth bow?
My dad wrote on the back of a picture PT66 at Samar in 1945 ready to be scrapped with a shark-tooth bow.

I think your right Will, as she was reclassified sometime in February 1945. You will notice her camo scheme is gone, and I do not see the Ron 8 logo on the bridge.

I own a lighter print of the photo showing the boat I've come to call "PT Sixtysomething" tied up at Morobe River. The photograph is stamped "Released: Nov. 5,1943" on the verso. At Wayne Traxel's suggestion I scanned it at a high resolution and am posting for your viewing. Here is the cabin and foredeck
as well as a closeup of the boat numbers on the charthouse
