As many of you recall, the former PT-486 was sold on EBAY for $150,000. I had heard through the grapevine that someone from KINGSTON, NEW YORK made the purchase. Nothing concrete here, just an E Mail I received. Anyone hear any dope?

That would be awesome if Capt Tom Whyte, Tim Ivory and the boys in Kingston NY got the boat! Then maybe they could make it a successful restoration and preservation. If that is the case, good luck to you guys! Jerry

Jerry, I am only "loosely" involved with the Kingston project these days. Not much has been happening with 728, the last time I captained her was at the Long Island Air Show this spring. I don't think the boat has done anything since.
The only details I have on the sale of 486 is what has already been posted here. I am sure the word will be out soon enough.
Timmy is still hanging in there and has done a nice job sprucing up 728. I had the opportunity to stop by today and see it and Tim has it looking pretty good with a fresh coat of paint.

I just hope whoever made the purchase, will make the concentrated effort to bring her back to Life. There are already too many boats in that area doing very little in the way of restoration. I know that Tim Ivory has done a fantastic job with what he has to work with. I only wish the E mail that i got told me that Tim Ivory and Tom Whyte purchased her, than I would feel confident that the boat would be worked on, and I could get involved...........................

Hi Frank, I can assure you that neither Tim or I are the new owners. Neither of us has the capital to take that project on.
But I share you hopes of seeing the right thing done to the boats currently in Kingston and to 486 wherever she ends up.
Best
Tom

Thanks Tom and Frank! I was kind of hoping the same thing as Frank, as far as a proper restoration of the PT486. Best wishes to you and Tim Ivory. Let me know if there is any way I could help from out here in Oregon! I will keep my fingers crossed. Jerry
