THE SOLOMONS
It's the heart of desolation,
it's the scrap heap of creation,
where God tossed all the leavings
and the things of little worth,
Chunks of land and sea and weather
that wouldn't fit togather
with the better parts of nature
that he used to build the earth.
It's the land that never changes,
jagged heaps of piled-up ranges,
where the jungle reigns imperial,,
dark and dank and dense,.
Where nameless rivers wonder
from the fastnesses back youder,
from the valleys full of mystery
and silences intense.
