I don't know what you guys are drinking - but pass it around.
I see the photos, the photos are sitting there at Photobucket. The photos are correctly code in the text. It also appears those on the message board not drinking TORPEDO JUICE are seeing the photos. Maybe you guys need to switch to Anti-Freeze (WWII style) '' '' ''
It was probably just a slow or very busy server at Photobucket, or this website's server at Comcast - remember this happens from time to time.

Now that we have cleared that up, LET THE RESTORATION BEGIN.............I thought about changing the numeral 4 on the side of the boat to something else, but I think that would wreck the original toy. Your thoughts?

Restoration, by definition, is destructive to history. I'd stick with the closest reproduction of the original as possible! But, the most important thing is: you own it, so do what makes you happy.

Well my friend...given that you solicited opinions...I like it the way it is. I say make a replica and let the grandchildren enjoy it...but then what do I know; I’m not the sharpest tack in the box. If you don’t believe me ask the wife....lol

Frank;
We all know that that is really you in the original photo as a 4-5 year old, that is why you still have it, and now want to restore it. But whatever became of your two pals on the USS Sicard (DD-346/DM-21/AG-100, which was a Clemson-class destroyer)toy?
Take care,
TED

Ted, you let the Cat out of the bag. I just love the photo, and boy it is hard enough to find the PT BOAT RIDE ON TOY, let along that awesome DESTROYER. Several years back i had the chance to purchase a PT BOAT RIDE on electrical driven toy. This was the type you would have seen years ago in front of the Department Stores. I could have got it for $300.00 bucks or so, but the shipping was expensive and at the time, I had no place to put it. I wish I could remember the guy that has it, but this is lost in time. It was nice, in great shape, with torpedoes, one seat for two Kids, a gun up front with running lights, and a coin box. It was running and the motion was like the boat was jumping the waves. Heck you can't buy it all.........
