Both ships were mined and sunk this day in 1944. The 218 after it came to the rescue of the sailors on the 202.
This very faded photo is of a mined ARB, I think. But I'm not sure...... what do you think ?

Thanks for the ID. If we were to assume that this photo was taken in the Med, then this would have to be a Ron 29 boat, right ?

That is a photo of PT 555 RON 29
Damaged by enemy mine, off Cape Couronne, Mediterranean, August 24, 1944, and sunk by U.S. gunfire on September 8, 1944, So I guess they towed her in, inspected her for "possible" repair and sunk her two weeks later, this is the first time I have heard this one!!
Looking at the photo, it looks like the damage was around frame 56 aft which is the 4 final frames of the engineroom(including aft engineroom bulkhead) and the entire lazerette.
