Does anyone have pictures of the railing around the 50 cal turrets for the early Higgins 200 series? They only had one bar down to the vent housing and not the later configuration that had two bars in the shape of a “V”. Thank you, Mark kellymark@fuse.net

See what you can gleam from these: PT 209 (as she sailed from May '44 to October '44) or PT 243 (Spring of '45):

Is this last one (PT 243, 1945) what you are talking about?

James,
Thank you very much for the pictures. It appears...and I’m guessing....the last three pictures are of the 243 boat given the difference in the 50 cal railing...two top rails vs. a single rail. A picture of the 209 boat from behind; like the last picture would solve my dilemma. Do you have one? I found a post on your web site from a person who’s father served on the 215. I emailed her and asked if she had any pictures. Again, thank you so much for the effort; Highly appreciated given this is my first Higgins project and I’m hoping to get it completed before my next exhibit in November. Send me your email address and I’ll sent you some pictures of the project. PS...great web site. Mark

I'll look through the collection and see if there is a picture I didn't use on the site that shows that area. Your best references though are here on this board - Al Ross & Steve Nugent. Al for obvious reasons...and Steve because his father's photo collection has lots of good detailed shots (Hal Nugent was the skipper on the 210 for a big chunk of time in 1944). I looked through some of the photos he shared with me but I didn't see anything. Maybe he has some more yet to be scanned?

And thanks for the compliments on my grandfather's site! I appreciate it.

Mark,

Darn it's hard to find a photo looking forward from midships !! See if you can find anything in these shots to help you out. The first picture was courtesy of Frank A.

James,
Your website (www.pistolpackinmama.net) was very helpful on this effort. I contacted the daughter of someone who served on the 215 boat that posted a commented on your site and she sent me some awesome pictures. A genuine thank you for your help. Mark
