Can anyone tell me what the reference to N.A.F. might have been in 1943 when used in the following context: "we were to act as Liaison Officers with the N.A.F. for the projected move up the East Coast of New Guinea" and a second reference: "The N.A.F. was to supply escorts for the merchant shipping ...". This has been a puzzler!

Normally, NAF in this context refers to Naval Air Facility. I was stationed at NAF Jacksonville and NAF Cecil Field when I was in.

Good Morning All:

Naval Air Facility seems to be appropriate, I'll go with that. I did find that reference in a web search on a site listing WW II naval terminology and abbreviations. But that site seemed to be missing some, as well.

Thanks for the assist.
