I am informed that the reference to Navy 134 was the US Navy Base in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. There was a large submarine base at New Farm which was part of Navy 134. There was also a large hospital at Camp Hill, located there at that base.

Can anyone tell me what Submarine Repair Unit, U.S. Navy No. 89, Task Group 72 refers to? I know that this refers to some type of medical facility at Brisbane and I have been told that it was attached to the 42nd General Hospital.

I am hopeful that one of our Australian members might know of this reference and its meaning.

Thanks for the help- again!

Allan

Michael:

Yes, you did provide that site earlier. I have been all over that site and can find no helpful references, unless I am missing something. There may well be some kind of link between facilities and references to those, but they escape me.

US Navy No. 89 has to be a reference to a particular place (a base or other facility) at Brisbane regarding the US submarine base but nothing seems to tie in for me. And, apparently, there was a medical or rehab facility attached to that submarine repair facility.

Thanks for your help and second reference to Peter Dunn's site.
