Hi Greg,
I'm assuming you're talking about the rails on the chart house and day cabin. They are soldered brass rod. I did the same for the rails on the gun tubs and braces for the spray shields. They just looked better to me than the photoetch.

The depression rails around the turrets are also soldered brass wire. For those I actually used the WEM rails as a template for soldering up annealed brass wire. Then it was glued into place with CA.

I didn't find a lot of use for the WEM set. I used their toe rails. For the torpedo tubes I used the circular portion only when creating the master for the tubes. I also used the deck cletes and hatches.

You're bring back some memories!

Jeff, that's a very interesting photo. That's the first time I've seen those shades over the day cabin windows. I've never seen that round hold on the aft end before. It has to be unique to that boat. I wonder why it was put there. That's a late ware version of an early model 80' boat. Do you have any information on it? Was this done at the time they burned the boats? Thanks for sharing.

I know nothing about the hole David, or what is visible through it, or why the hole through 3/8" ply appears to go through several inches. I don't know when the photo was taken either.

You're right about the shades / drip guards being unusual. I do have one other photo showing Russ Pullano on PT 195 with something similar although mounted lower, under the standard rails which are still there.

This setup may have indeed been a one-off.
