Ready to pull out and move to new location

Leaving under forklift power

Almost pulled out

Getting ready to move by crane. We could not get over how large she was. We had only seen her close up in the small warehouse. It was hard to get the whole boat in one picture.

Overhead shot. All the white paint is new or restored.

This is where she will dock over night. Tommorrow she will go into the building behind her. It is a restoration pavillion that the World War 2 Museum is building.

Ahoy there.

When I saw the title of this thread, "PT 305 Underway Again", I thought that there was going to be images or video of the boat in the water. A disappointing that there were none. Good luck getting this piece of history restored. Do you plan on having it operational some time?

Cheers from Peter

Bob . . .

Nice to see the 305 is in transition to her new rehab location. Hope the move goes very, very well, and without hitches.

Boy, she does look big out in the open in a parking lot.

Hey Bob,
Adding 15 feet to the stern is no easy feat! Great job to all of you volunteers down there in the "Big Easy". Good luck to your continuing efforts to restore the PT305! Jerry PT658 Portland

Peter,
Yes, the plan is to restore her to her war time state in the Med. Including three restored Packard engines. We have years ahead of us. Sea trials on Lake Ponchartrain, same as 1943.
Thanks everyone else for the positive comments.

Second day of moving the boat. It was craned in as close as possible. They had to close Higgins Dr. Then it was put on rollers and pulled into place with a come along. No creaks or cracks, everything held up great. We have to wait until June to be able to work on the boat itself. The contractor has to finish the building. Meanwhile the charthouse is being fabricated in the old warehouse as well as many subassemblies.

Bob,

Congratulations to you and all else involved. I'd love to see her in person
