Towards the end of WWII, the RN transferred a number of former RON 15 boats to the Jugoslavs. Within a few years, the Jugoslavs began producing their own version of the boats, apparently in metal. Here are a couple shots of these later boats that I just got from a colleague in Italy.

Hi Al and Ted,
Wow those are great photos! Al are you confident in the statement about those boats in the photo being made from metal? They sure look like the spittin' image of a wooden Higgins Boat! How can you tell they are metal and not wood? You must have a pretty keen eye for details that I do not!Again great photos and thanks for posting them! Jerry

Several reliable sources I've read over the years indicate the boats were metal. However, not being a trusting soul, I have yet to confirm this; thus, the word "apparently". Once I find out for sure, I'll provide the source.
When I get home tonight, I'll upload a photo that may be telling.

I do not know enough about the Post War Boats from other Countries, but I wonder why they would change to metal hulls. Many Countries that recieved War surplus from the US, simply used what was given to them. In looking at the photo's, they seem to be identical to the Higgins boats, with tubes, guns, and the tell-tale 40mm in the stern. What did these boats have for engines, that they could maintain a high RPM and still carry a heavy load.

Very cool photographs! Thanks a lot for sharing. They really do look the part...I wonder if they planed like a Higgins or just plowed?
If you ever come across boats MT 1 through 7 - it's my understanding those are the Ron 15 boats, with MT-5 being my grandfathers. The one book that referred to them had them scrapped in 1966...

Apparently, ex-217 was lost to grounding on a sandbank in 1955.

Hi Al, I scanned some more pics just for you! I found these along with the others from RON22 but they were printed on 8.5x11 card stock and donated to Harry Wiedemaier of Save the PT Boat back in 2004 by one of our contacts, Mr Chip Marshall of Silver Spring MD. Chip is also a regular member to this Message Board. Here are some pics showing Chinese and Russian Higgins PT Boats. Maybe Chip can enlighten us on how he came across these awesome pictures! Chip I hope you dont mind me posting these scans! Jerry

Thanks Jerry,
I've know Chip for a long time and he has been a source of some great info, as he does a lot of research at NARA.
A German colleague sent me a copy of the TK211 photo last year. I was particularly interested in the camo scheme. He siad the colors were white and two shades of blue, but did not provide the official names nor his source. I have seen a photo of another boat with the same scheme.
